Anything But A Card at Sentimental Sundays

I hope you're all having a great (long) weekend.  We went to Kent yesterday for our grandson Ryan's 6th birthday party, it was great fun & he really enjoyed himself (it was a very long day though an 8 hour round trip but definitely worth it) & it was so lovely to see him, his lil sister Abigail & my son Craig & DIL Zoe (I do miss them!).  So today I'm hoping not to do very much today (apart from some crafting of course).

It is very exciting times at Sentimental Sundays as today the design team members are announced - all 14 of them!  The "old" team members have now been promoted to Senior Members (I've never been a senior anything lol) how cool :)  This week's challenge is "Anything But A Card" (with a sentiment) & I should have found this easy as I love papercrafting & making different things to cards BUT I couldn't decide what to make lol.  In the end I went for a  Christmas birdhouse ornament, I've made a couple of these before & they do look pretty on the tree.  The red card is from Dovecraft's Noel premium paper pad & the green (though it doesn't look green in the photo) is digi (can't remember which one sorry) printed onto card.  I didn't have the correct nesties for the roof & base as used in the instructions so I just measured & cut with scalloped scissors.  I finished off with some wire & beaded flowers, a pointsettia, punched tag stamped with Noel, a couple of gems, tinsel, eyelets & some stretchy cord for hanging. The instructions & template are HERE if you would like to have a go :o)

I would like to enter this into these challenges:

Goodbye to Paper Pretties

It was a tough decision to leave the Paper Pretties digi design team as they have been a great team especially Jackie the DT co-coordinator who does a great job making everything go smoothly & I will miss using ARTish's quirky images, they are such fun but I feel it is time to move on & it is hard trying to do everything crafty that I would like (if I didn't have to go to work I could fit soo much more in lol).  Every Monday Paper Pretties has 2 new digi releases & this week I used "Sawyer Mouse" & coloured him with PrismaColor pencils, I made a sun from 2 punched flowers & a button & finished off with a computer generated greeting, brad, ribbon & a black pearl for his nose :o)

Sentimental Sundays Challenge

This week's challenge at Sentimental Sundays is "Make Your Own Flowers".  I love this fairy image which is a stamp from Lili of the Valley & I haven't used it for ages so it was nice to ink it up.  For a change I used Distress Inks to colour the image (I like using them but I definitely need to practice a bit more).  The papers are from my stash & the ticket is a stamp by Raindrop Echo from Whimsy Stamps.  The flowers are made by punching a circle, cutting a spiral, curling it up & adding 2 punched & embossed leaves.  I finished the card with ribbon, charms, gems & Glamour Dust.  There are some amazing creations from the DT so you should get lots of inspiration for your flowers & don't forget there are free sentiments every week & the DT call is still on so if you want to be part of a fab n friendly team why not give it a go :o)

Card For A Special Person

Happy Wednesday everyone, I love Wednesdays cos it is my day off (although I have got to go to the hospital for an Endoscopy this afternoon so that's not too much fun).  This card was made at the request of my Aunty for her daughter's 50th birthday.  She didn't give me any brief so it took me ages to decide what to do (& especially what image to use, I've been looking at loads lol).  I find it's always harder making a card for someone special as you want it to be perfect (well not perfect but special - you know what I mean).  I decided on this cute image from Pollycraft & coloured it with Promarkers, I did go over the top with the Glamour Dust but my cousin is a real girly girl like me & loves all that sort of thing & so I used lace, ribbon, lots of flowers & a charm.  The papers were free from Computer Scrapbook & I finished of with some stamped, punched & glittered butterflies & some gems, a brad & a button & a made a matching box.

Sentimental Sunday 1st Anniversary , DT Call & The Chance to Win!

The Sentimental Sundays challenge this week is "Anything Goes" (with a sentiment) - it doesn't get much easier than this, you can let your creativity flow & make what you like!  It was our 27th wedding anniversary on Thursday (I was a child bride lol) unfortunately I didn't feel that good (& we both worked late) so not much celebrating was done & I wanted to make something different instead of a card for my lovely hubby Mark.  I've never made an exploding box so I thought I'd have a go, I used THIS template & really enjoyed making it.  The papers are  from Designer digitals & printed on to both sides of some thin card, I cut a couple of hearts from the papers & stitched it together & made a springy thing using a couple of strips of card.  The sentiments are from TLC again.  There is lots of inspiration from the DT as usual & don't forget the weekly freebie too!

ALSO as it is Sentimental Sundays 1st Anniversary you have several chances to win a fantastic digital sentiment  set of your choice from Rainbdrop Echo Designs Whimsy Stamps digital collection by commenting on each DT member's post (every member will be giving away set) & that's not all... we are having a DT call too so if you would like to be part of our fab team check out the post on the main blog :o)

I thought I'd share this jewellery set I made with you too (I'm starting another blog for my jewellery but it's hard finding time for this blog let alone another one).  We had a wedding reception last night & I made this to wear (I also made a wire wrapped ring after I'd took the photo) & for a first attempt I was really pleased with it (& it didn't fall to pieces while I was wearing it!).
